Pre-Conference

  • Location: Black Bear Inn, Orono, Maine
  • Title: The Power of Positive Experiences
  • Speaker: Maine Youth Thriving
  • "The Power of Positive Experiences" is an interactive, research-informed learning session designed for those who support Maine youth in their schools and communities every day. This three-hour interactive workshop translates the science of resilience and Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) into practical strategies that help educators and mentors create environments where young people can thrive. It also covers the importance of creating opportunities for staff to cultivate their own positive experiences together in ways that reduce the likelihood of compassion fatigue and turnover.

Grounded in the Science of the Positive, this session provides both insight and hands-on learning designed to revive your connection to yourself and to others and increase your capacity to support young people. Participants will deepen their understanding of how experiences shape lifelong health and well-being—and discover how intentional moments of connection can transform outcomes for themselves and the students they serve.
