ANNUAL CONFERENCE:
Michelle and Rebecca shared draft of conference registration forms.

Discussed Lucia Whitely, Financial Aid person at Colby, works from the recruiting standpoint/ understands the UB program, appeared to be good one to discuss FA issues within that framework. We ll need to key her in on EOC.

Lynn Gitlow (and perhaps Alan Parks) will come to present info about Center for Community Inclusion (CCI) resources for working with students with disabilities & related research.

Anne St Pierre ethics and responsibilities, not finalized

Becky was asked to run game/auction and she accepted!

Jerry Ellis doing the "Who Are We?" piece (Newcomers/Advocacy); Rebecca shared some of their discussion; if this is for New only, should we have a session on being a strong advocate for those who have been around? Johannah will talk with Jerry. Discussed needing a change in title, not newcomers. Possibly use "Membership Manual?" Rebecca mentioned people having a breakout session/smaller session to direct attention toward issues of advocacy. Johannah shared that it should be addressed independently or with DC update or would it make it too broad?

Matt Murphy, the General Manager of WERU, might be able to get someone to the conference to tape sessions.

Kathy Nadeau is interested in Mindful Meditation, she ll be getting back to R/M.

Who else should we invite? GEAR Ups, Helen Pelletier, Alan Parks, Father Jim, Congressional Delegates. Let Rebecca know if there are any more special people!

CAS self-assessment booklet asks specific questions so you can rate your program, key part that goes with standards we ll buy one for each program, if one is purchased per program then each program is able to make as many copies as needed.

We had discussion about organization of conference items to hold the most people and greatest interest. Looking at social events as well.

TREASURY QUESTIONS
Questions about EIN # (501.c.(4) status is received then you get a number) Dave is going to look into that number; current SS# that is still on both accounts could then be removed; if we do have the EIN# then we can change our accounts at the Credit Union

MEMBERSHIP:
Forms have gone out, database is updated. Associate, Regular, Professional and Program memberships.

Individual memberships for staff are not allowable expenses for programs. Membership Chair/ President Elect has to tell people that paying non-member rate doesn t equal membership; they will receive all benefits except holding office and voting. We will issue membership cards for paid members.

Nominations: President Elect, Conference Chair and Secretary positions that need to be filled!

TRIO PROGRAMS IN MAINE
Lucy Jones from Arkansas provided Dave with Informational booklet. Dave showed us the book, primer, of TRIO for congressional aides; projects, layout of personnel, break out by districts, description of programs, services, funding, stats on awards: this is done for each program area. Then they had a TRIO Hall of Fame . Select people who have done well, even if they don t have accomplishments that would make them achievers on the nat l/regional recognition, the book contained many examples of individuals that have made it on this level

Dave is in hopes of having a format that could be used for Maine; a format that will allow for requesting data from programs in an organized and meaningful fashion. The general format is well liked and it s in agreement that this is a good project for MEEOA to be involved in.

What is the course of action? Any programs that board members are involved in will provide information, as well as a collection of success stories. A format will be developed to assist in the collection of these "stories." Dave will prepare the front section and show what info is needed and how it will be used to membership at the conference.

UPDATE TO THE LISTSERVE:
Do we use our new membership database information to update the list serve? Should a message be sent to all and those who are not interested will be removed from the list serve? Rebecca suggested sending a message to people and they could choose to subscribe. She would also find any errors prior to placing people on the list.

Friday Dec 17th next meeting 11-3, 305 Chadbourne (Conference Room)
