Stay Informed !!! -- Subscribe to the MEEOA List Serve

A listserv is a mailing list comprised of individuals who share a common interest. A person who is subscribed to the listserv can send a single message to the listserv's address and automatically the message is distributed to all other subscribers! It's a simple way to keep a large group of people well informed, or share information and ideas.

MEEOA sponsors a listserv called MEEOA-L which operates from the University of Maine's mainframe system. A willing volunteer from within the MEEOA membership usually takes responsibility for the management of the listserv. Currently the list manager is Steve Visco(steve.visco@umit.maine.edu).

Instructions for using the list follow:

Instructions for subscribing:
1. Send a message to
listserv@lists.maine.edu
2. Leave the subject of the message blank
3. In the message body, write:
subscribe MEEOA-L YourFirstName YourLastName
(remember to use your name!)
4. You'll receive a message asking you to confirm.
5. To confirm, simply reply to the message with the word ok and nothing else!

Instructions for sending messages:
1. Once you're successfully subscribed,
2. Create a blank message, add a subject
3. Address it to
MEEOA-L@LISTS.MAINE.EDU
4. Compose your message in the usual way
5. Make sure you include your name & email address at the bottom
6. Send in the usual way & it will be distributed

Instructions for unsubscribing:
1. Send a message to
listserv@list.maine.edu
2. Leave the subject of the message blank
3. In the message body, write:
unsub MEEOA-L
4. You'll receive further instructions, or a confirmation.
