MEEOA Business Meeting, January 5, 2005
President’s report
- 2004 was very successful, highlights included:
- the 2004 conference added revenue which was used for professional development
grants
- Maine State TRiO day at the Hall of Flags, TRiO students served as pages
in the State House.
- A commitment was made to leadership institute scholarships
- Policy seminar in March, 3 TRiO alumni went o Washington DC and met
with Senators and Representatives
- Nominations for this year should be sent to Faith
- The Maine TRiO yearbook was produced, plans were laid to produce and
distribute it on a larger scale. Productions costs were very high.
- Volunteers wanted for an Advocacy committee to promote TRiO politically
and in the media.
- The MEEA conference will be moving to October, since that will mean two
conferences for 2005, the October conference will be abbreviated, likely only
a one or two day event.
President-Elect’s report
- The CE grant will be used t produce more yearbooks so they can be more
widely distributed and will also contribute to costs related to expanding
the Hall of Flags event.
- An alumni reception is planned for the NEOA conference
- Goals for the coming year
- Hall of Flags day
- March 24th?
- Students will page in morning or afternoon?
- Luncheon with legislators (funded in part by CE grant $$?)
- Increase Advocacy and media attention for TRiO programs through the
new Advocacy committee
- Produce a new MEEA brochure
- Have a successful October conference
- Solicit nominees for Policy seminar by February 1st
- Must be graduates of 4-year college/university
- Must be in a career
- Must be an articulate speaker
- Please send Nominations for TRiO achievers to be recognized. Nominations
can be sent electronically to Faith or fill out the nomination forms distributed
on tables. We would like all TRiO programs represented.
